Nuiqsut is a federally recognized tribe in Alaska with tribal lands. The land base is relevant for broadband planning due to rural service coverage and middle-mile access constraints.
The Native Villlage of Nuiqsut is a federally recognized Tribe. The old village of Nuiqsut (Nuiqsapiat) is located in the Colville River Delta. Today, Nuiqsut is located on the Nechilik (Natchiliq) Channel of the Colville River Delta in the North Slope Borough, 135 miles southeast of Utqiagvik (Barrow) and 50 miles west of Prudhoe Bay. In 1973, Nuiqsut was resettled by 27 families from Utqiagvik. The Delta is a hunting, fishing, gathering and trading place for the Iñupiat.
