About the Tribal Area
Jackson Rancheria is a rancheria in California associated with this federally recognized tribe, and it spans about 0.5 square miles. The latest FCC BDC filing shows 9 fixed providers and 3 mobile providers across roughly 1 service locations, with current availability of 100.0% at 25/3 Mbps, 100.0% at 100/20, and 100.0% at 1000/100.
Tribal Area Description
Jackson is a federally recognized tribe in California with rancheria lands. The land base is relevant for broadband planning due to rural service coverage and middle-mile access constraints.
The Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians supports the Native American tradition of sharing with and giving back to the local community through generous donations to various events, organizations and efforts. Proposition 1 A, the California Indian Self-Reliance Amendment, passed in 2000, affirming the right to gaming on tribal lands and Jackson Rancheria’s path to self-sufficiency was clear. Unlike many California casinos which sprang up as giant properties in lightly populated rural areas, often with considerable local resistance, Jackson Rancheria has grown along with its community and for the most part enjoyed substantial local support. Explore the legacy of Jackson Rancheria, from early beginnings to a thriving casino resort built on respect, service, and community values. The Tribe watched carefully as California voters approved Proposition 5, the Tribal Government Gaming and Economic Self-Sufficiency Act in 1998.
