About the Tribal Area
Federally recognized tribe in Montana, centered on Fort Peck Indian Reservation, spans about 3288 square miles of land plus roughly 13.6 square miles of water. FCC BDC records show 6 fixed providers and 4 mobile providers across roughly 5,200 service locations, with current availability of 86.3% at 25/3 Mbps, 81.6% at 100/20, and 73.4% at 1000/100.
Tribal Area Description
In Montana, Fort Peck has tribal lands managed by a federally recognized tribe. The land base is relevant for broadband planning due to rural service coverage and middle-mile access constraints.
The Fort Peck Reservation is home to two distinct American Indian Nations, each composed of numerous bands and divisions. The Tribal Headquarters is in the town of Poplar, while our largest town is Wolf Point, both on Montana’s famous “Hi-Line” route, close to the mighty Missouri River and featuring excellent rail access.
