About the Tribal Area
Spokane Reservation is a reservation in Washington associated with this federally recognized tribe, and it spans about 238 square miles of land plus roughly 12.3 square miles of water. Tribal Area Description
Spokane is a federally recognized tribe in Washington with tribal lands. A Plateau tribe in Washington, historically known for fishing and trading along the Spokane River.
Today the Spokane Tribe of Indians primary government operations are located in Wellpinit Washington with a citizen population of approximately 2,900 enrolled members. The Spokane Tribe of Indians ancestors inhabited much of northeastern Washington which consisted of approximately 3 million acres. The Spokane Tribe of Indians vision is to achieve true sovereignty by attaining self-sufficiency. Spokane ancestors were a river people, living a semi-nomadic way of life hunting, fishing, and gathering all the creator had made available to them.
